🔐 What two-factor authentication does
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra security step when you sign in. After entering your password, you’ll confirm your identity with a code from an authenticator app.
⚙️ How to activate 2FA
- Sign in to your Search Atlas account.
- Open the Avatar Menu (👤) by selecting your avatar in the top-right corner.
- Open your account or security settings.
- Find the Two-factor authentication or 2FA option and select Enable.
- Scan the displayed QR code with an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy. You can also enter the setup key manually.
- Enter the six-digit code generated by the app.
- Confirm the setup and securely save any recovery codes provided.
📱 Signing in after activation
Enter your Search Atlas email address and password as usual. When prompted, open your authenticator app and enter the current six-digit code.
🛟 If you lose access
Use a saved recovery code if you cannot access your authenticator app. Recovery codes are intended for one-time use, so store them securely and do not share them.
