## **🔐 What two-factor authentication does**

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra security step when you sign in. After entering your password, you’ll confirm your identity with a code from an authenticator app.

## **⚙️ How to activate 2FA**

1. Sign in to your Search Atlas account.
2. Open the Avatar Menu (👤) by selecting your avatar in the top-right corner.
3. Open your account or security settings.
4. Find the **Two-factor authentication** or **2FA** option and select **Enable**.
5. Scan the displayed QR code with an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy. You can also enter the setup key manually.
6. Enter the six-digit code generated by the app.
7. Confirm the setup and securely save any recovery codes provided.

## **📱 Signing in after activation**

Enter your Search Atlas email address and password as usual. When prompted, open your authenticator app and enter the current six-digit code.

## **🛟 If you lose access**

Use a saved recovery code if you cannot access your authenticator app. Recovery codes are intended for one-time use, so store them securely and do not share them.
