🌍 Why AI Image Labeling Matters

The EU AI Act and related regulations require that AI-generated images be clearly disclosed to end users. This applies to images created through tools like Search Atlas's AI image generation features in Google Business Profile (GBP) and the Social Hub. Ensuring your content meets these requirements protects your business and your clients from compliance risk.

📋 Current State of AI Image Labeling in Search Atlas

Automatic EU compliance labeling for AI-generated images is not yet available in Search Atlas. This is a feature that has been requested, and it is not currently built into the platform. There is no automatic disclosure label applied to AI-generated images at the account level, and no in-platform filter or screening tool exists for this purpose at this time.

⚙️ What You Can Do Right Now

Because automatic labeling is not yet available, you will need to manage EU AI disclosure requirements manually until a platform solution exists. Here is how to approach this:

  1. Identify AI-generated images before publishing. When you use Search Atlas AI tools to generate images for GBP or Social Hub, note which images were AI-created so you can track them separately.
  2. Add a visible disclosure manually. Before publishing any AI-generated image, add a clear disclosure such as "Created with AI" or "AI-generated image" as a caption or accompanying text in your post.
  3. Keep your own records. Maintain a log of which published images are AI-generated. This supports your compliance posture while no automated solution is in place.
  4. Apply extra caution in regulated industries. If you manage content for clients in medical, legal, financial, or other regulated sectors, consult your legal team on the specific disclosure requirements that apply to those industries.
