# **🔍 What Is the Search Atlas Pixel?**

The Search Atlas tracking pixel is a small snippet of code you place on your website. It allows OTTO SEO to collect on-site data, power automation features, and accurately report your site's SEO performance. Without the pixel installed correctly, OTTO cannot activate fully.

# **📋 Before You Begin**

Make sure you have the following ready before installing the pixel:

- Admin or editor access to your website's code, CMS, or tag manager
- Your unique pixel snippet — found inside your OTTO SEO dashboard
- A clear understanding of which installation method suits your site (see below)

# **🚀 Step 1 — Find Your Pixel Snippet**

1. Log in to Search Atlas and navigate to your OTTO SEO dashboard.
2. Select the site you want to set up.
3. Follow the on-screen setup steps until you reach the pixel installation step.
4. Copy the pixel code snippet displayed on screen — this code is unique to your site.

# **⚙️ Step 2 — Choose Your Installation Method**

There are three supported ways to install the pixel. Choose the one that matches how your website is managed.

# **💡 Method A — Direct Code Installation (Recommended)**

This method works for most websites where you can edit the HTML source or use a CMS plugin to inject code into the **`<head>`** section.

1. Open your website's theme editor, CMS settings, or custom HTML section.
2. Navigate to the global **`<head>`** tag — this code must appear on every page of your site.
3. Paste your pixel snippet immediately before the closing **`</head>`** tag.
4. Save and publish your changes.
5. Return to the OTTO SEO dashboard and check your setup status to verify the pixel has been detected.

**Important:** If your site uses Next.js, React Server Components, or lazy-loading frameworks, ensure the pixel loads at the top-level document level rather than only inside a client-side component, so it can be detected correctly.

# **💡 Method B — Google Tag Manager (GTM) Installation**

Use this method if your site already uses GTM to manage tracking scripts.

1. Log in to your **Google Tag Manager** account and open the container for your website.
2. Click **Tags** in the left menu, then click **New**.
3. Click **Tag Configuration** and select **Custom HTML**.
4. Paste your Search Atlas pixel snippet into the HTML field.
5. Click **Triggering** and select **All Pages** as the trigger.
6. Name the tag (e.g., *Search Atlas Pixel*) and click **Save**.
7. Click **Submit** in the top-right corner of GTM to publish your container.
8. Return to the OTTO SEO dashboard and check your setup status to confirm the pixel has been detected.

# **💡 Method C — GoHighLevel (GHL) Installation**

Use this method if your site is hosted or managed through GoHighLevel.

1. Log in to your GoHighLevel account and open the relevant site or funnel.
2. Navigate to the site or funnel settings and locate the section where you can add custom scripts or tracking codes to the **`<head>`** of your pages.
3. Paste your Search Atlas pixel snippet into that field.
4. Save your changes and ensure the snippet is set to load on all pages.
5. Return to the OTTO SEO dashboard and check your setup status to confirm the pixel has been detected.

# **🛠️ Troubleshooting**

If the pixel is not being detected after installation, check the following:

- Confirm the pixel snippet is placed inside the **`<head>`** section and loads on every page of your site, not just the homepage.
- If using GTM or GHL, make sure you have published or saved your changes — unpublished containers will not fire the pixel.
- Clear your site's cache after installing the pixel, as cached pages may serve an older version of your code.
- If you continue to see a detection issue, note your site URL and any error messages shown in the dashboard before reaching out for support.
